8hues — Terms, Privacy & Community Guidelines

Terms of Service

1. Who may use 8hues

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement where you live. You may not use 8hues if you have previously been removed for violating these terms, or if you are barred from using a service of this kind under applicable law.

2. Your account

You are responsible for your account credentials and for everything done through your account. Provide accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us right away if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else. One person, one account.

3. Content you post

You keep ownership of the photos, text, reviews, and messages you post. By posting, you grant 8hues a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, resize, and display that content for the purpose of operating the service. You confirm you have the right to post it and that everyone depicted is an adult who consented to the posting.

4. Profile reviews

8hues lets members leave reviews on each other's profiles, optionally without their name attached. Reviews must describe your own genuine experience. Do not post someone's legal name, workplace, home address, phone number, health status, or other identifying details. Do not post a review to threaten, extort, or retaliate against someone. Anonymous reviews are anonymous to other members — 8hues retains the author's account identifier internally so that abuse can be investigated and acted on, and so that reviews can be removed and the author sanctioned when these rules are broken.

Reviews are opinions of individual members. 8hues does not endorse or verify them. Anyone can report a review; moderators may remove any review at their discretion.

5. Prohibited conduct

• Sexual content involving anyone under 18, or content that presents an adult as a minor.
• Posting anyone's private information, or sexual images of a person without their consent.
• Harassment, threats, stalking, hate speech, or targeting people for their race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or HIV status.
• Commercial sex work, trafficking, or the sale of controlled substances or weapons.
• Scams, catfishing, impersonation, phishing, or requests for money.
• Bots, scrapers, bulk automated accounts, or evading a ban with a new account.
• Recording, screenshotting, or redistributing another member's private messages, photos, or video sessions without their consent.

6. Moderation and enforcement

We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate an account at any time when we believe these terms or the community guidelines have been broken, or to protect members. Serious violations — especially any involving minors, non-consensual imagery, or credible threats — are removed on sight, may be reported to law enforcement, and result in a permanent ban.

7. Administrative access

8hues's administrators can, for support and safety investigations, temporarily access the service as a member's account. Every such session is logged with the administrator's identity, the account accessed, and the start and end times. This access exists to investigate abuse reports and resolve account problems. It is not used for any other purpose.

8. 8hues Plus and payments

8hues is free right now. We are not charging anyone, we do not collect card details, and there is no payment processor connected to this site. Every feature described as "Plus" — incognito browsing, read receipts, video rooms, and seeing who viewed you — is currently available to every member at no cost.

If we introduce a paid tier later, it will be optional, it will be announced in the app before it starts, and it will never retroactively charge you for the period you have already used. Changing your displayed location ("travel mode") is free and always will be. Nothing you can do on 8hues today will begin costing money without you actively choosing to subscribe.

9. No warranty; limitation of liability

8hues is provided "as is". We do not verify members' identities, statements, health status, or intentions, and we do not run background checks. Meeting people from the internet carries risk and that risk is yours. To the maximum extent permitted by law, 8hues and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months or fifty US dollars.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use 8hues after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account data: email address, handle, and a salted PBKDF2 hash of your password. We never store your password itself.
• Profile data: the stats, kinks, about-me text, and photos you choose to enter.
• Location: your device's coordinates, used to place you on the map.
• Activity: messages, public-chat posts, reviews, favourites, blocks, profile views, and reports.
• Technical data: IP address and request logs used for security, abuse prevention, and rate-limiting.

How your location is handled

Your exact coordinates are never sent to other members. The server offsets the position other people see by a random distance, which you control in settings (roughly 250–2,500 feet). Only you see your true pin. Travel mode replaces your displayed location entirely with an area you searched for.

Photos

Photos are re-encoded in your browser before upload, which strips EXIF metadata including embedded GPS coordinates. Uploaded images are stored in Cloudflare R2.

Who we share with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the infrastructure providers needed to run 8hues — currently Cloudflare alone (hosting, database, storage, email delivery) — and with law enforcement when we are legally required to, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm.

Retention

Public-chat messages are deleted automatically after 24 hours. Other content stays until you delete it or your account is closed. Moderation and impersonation logs are retained for safety and audit purposes.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your profile content, clear your photos, block or mute anyone, and reduce your location precision at any time. To delete your account and associated data, or to request a copy of your data, contact us at the address below.

Cookies

8hues sets one essential HttpOnly cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Ads shown in the app are our own and are not personalised using third-party data.

Community Guidelines

• Be honest. Your stats, photos, and reviews should describe reality.
• Consent is the whole thing. Ask before sending explicit photos. "No" ends the conversation.
• What happens on 8hues stays on 8hues. Don't screenshot, record, or repost anyone.
• Review the encounter, not the person's identity. No names, jobs, addresses, or health status — ever.
• Report rather than retaliate. Use the 🚩 button; moderators review reports.
• Block freely. Blocking is mutual and immediate — you disappear from each other's map, chats, feed, and reviews.

Staying safe

• Meet in public first when you can, and trust your read on a situation.
• Tell a friend where you're going and when you expect to be back.
• Nobody on 8hues should ever ask you for money, gift cards, or crypto. That's a scam — report it.
• Set your location precision higher (a larger random offset) if you live somewhere identifiable.
• Members are not identity-verified. Video chat before meeting if you want extra confidence.
• If someone threatens you or shares your private images, report them and contact local law enforcement.
