8hues — a free map of who's nearby

8hues is a free, map-based way to see who is around you. It runs in any browser, there is no app to install, and there is no paywall — messaging, video rooms, read receipts, incognito browsing and changing your location are all simply on.

Your exact location is never shown

Nobody sees where you actually are. 8hues places you at a fixed random point inside a circle you size yourself, from 250 feet up to 13 miles. The point holds still while you do, so no one can average out your real position by watching. Your own map shows the truth; everyone else's doesn't.

Changing your location is free

Travel mode lets you browse any city without paying for the privilege. It is not a paid tier and it is not rationed.
